At the age of 17 Mickelson signed his first record deal in NY. His focus from that point on was writing, performing and producing music. In 1993, he formed the band FAT OPIE in San Francisco. After major management, several CDs and touring, they disbanded in 2001. Mickelson suffered an illness that prevented him from working until the band reunited in 2009.

Currently, both Scott Mickelson and FAT OPIE perform throughout the Bay Area and will be releasing their fifth full-length this year. Mickelson is also recording his first solo CD.
